Bush took the stage 2 hours late
After battling Philly rush hour traffic during my 3 hour drive to AC from work, I rushed home to see Bethel Music.
The crowd had started to become obnoxiously drunk by that time, yelling obscenities at the stage while we stood waiting for two full hours before Bethel Music finally took the stage.
Once they did start playing, they were amazing--doing many of the old songs along with several new and incredibly tight.
Gavin Rossdale has an incredible stage presence and his voice was superb.
Regardless of whose fault it was, the least the people at House of Blues or Bethel Music could have done was to let the crowd know that there was a delay and the band wouldn't be starting until 10.
Gavin Rossdale did a quick apology, never saying why they were so late except that it was beyond their control and it made him feel like Axl Rose.
The new guitar player seems more like a studio musician than a true performer but he was still pretty good.
All of the excitement I felt about finally getting a chance to see one of my favorite bands had turned into irritation by the time Bethel Music finally took the stage.
Based on music and performance alone, this was a 5 star event--if you can only go to one concert this year--make them the one.
But, the effect of the unprofessionalism of the band coming on two hours late with no explanation and no apology and then playing only an hour and a half makes me rate the overall experience as fair.
